Data collected
The contact form collects your name, your email address and the content of your message.
No advertising, profiling or analytics cookies are used, and no data is sold.
Activity counters
I keep a count of a few things that happen on this site: a message sent through the contact form . Each counter is a type and a timestamp. No IP address, no user agent, no session, no cookie, no referrer and no URL are recorded alongside it.
These counters are summarised in a single daily notification, then the table is emptied. They exist so I can tell whether anything is happening at all. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in operating and understanding the traffic of the site (GDPR Art. 6.1.f).
Purpose and legal basis
Your data is used solely to answer your request. The legal basis is the performance of the service you are requesting (GDPR Art. 6.1.b) for messages you send through the contact form .
Server logs (IP address, timestamp, page requested, user agent) are kept for 14 days for security purposes, on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating the site securely (GDPR Art. 6.1.f).
Recipients
Data is processed by the data controller and by the hosting provider. New messages may trigger a notification, which means the name, the email address and the content of the message are transmitted to me.
netcup GmbH acts as the hosting provider and processes the data on our instruction. No data is transferred for commercial purposes.
Retention
Contact and support messages are kept for 3 years from the last exchange, so we can follow up on ongoing issues. This aligns with the statutory retention period for commercial documents (10 years for accounting records, which this site does not produce).
Server logs are deleted after 14 days. Activity counters are emptied after each daily summary, and never hold personal data. Deleting your data earlier is possible on request — see the section on your rights below.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, delete and object to the processing of your data, and to data portability. These rights are exercised via the contact form.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07), or with the authority competent in your country of residence.

eboissel.net sets no advertising or analytics cookies. The display theme (light or dark) is stored locally in your browser and never transmitted to the server. A single session cookie is set to protect against cross-site request forgery when you submit the contact form.
